Courses
- Introduction to Bioengineering: The course, of a theoretical nature, has the main objective of showing the student the multidisciplinary profile of Bioengineering in a panoramic way, so that they can identify the most important components, which will be treated in the courses along throughout their years of study. The course shows the wide variety of fields of action of bioengineering, for those who have specialization preferences in areas of biomedical or biotechnology.
- Cell and Molecular Biology: The course, of a theoretical-practical nature, has the purpose of providing updated and organized information on the cell, metabolism, and cellular and molecular regulation. An understanding of the integration, interdependence of biomolecules, cell compartmentalization and functioning of prokaryotic and eukaryotic cell structures is sought.
- Biochemistry: The course analyzes the reactions that give rise to new DNA or that occur in the case of mutations in genes. This course is the basis for understanding more complex topics such as genomic sequencing and biotechnological tools based on gene modification.
- Organic Chemistry: The course is designed for students of the Chemical Engineering career to apply the knowledge of general chemistry and advanced chemistry to organic synthesis processes found at an industrial level. Therefore, concepts of molecular structure and chemical thermodynamics will be applied from the beginning. The course will review the main functional organic groups, and then study their reactivity, characterization and reaction mechanisms. "
