On March 8, in commemoration of International Women’s Day, students of the career of Bioengineering, Nelzy Mendoza, Evely Blas and Luciana Benites, had the opportunity to attend the event “They in Engineering” organized by the company Siemens Healthineers, in this space also participated students of other careers.
During the event, the fundamental role of women in the field of biomedical engineering was highlighted, a historical look at the company was made referring to historical figures such as Marie Curie, who discovered X-rays and who made a great contribution to the development of science. In addition, the event provided a space for engineers to share their personal experiences, challenges and achievements in their respective careers. Topics covered included the professional development process, the importance of gender diversity in engineering and overcoming obstacles.
This event meant for them a unique space to strengthen academically but at the same time find a genuine fraternity in this path of engineering among women. It was also recognized that the path to women’s participation in engineering is still a process that must continue to grow and the active role of women in it.
